A garage, some long tables, and no reservation book

In 2010 a few friends in El Gouna rented an old garage off the marina. They kept the concrete, hung some lights, and put in tables that were too long for any one party - which is how the shared table became the whole idea.

We still do not take reservations. You walk in, you sit where there is room, and more often than not you end up talking to the people next to you. It is the least efficient way to run a dining room and the best thing about the place.

The kitchen is a craft burger kitchen first: our own buns, patties ground in house, and a short list of things we will not cut corners on. Around it sits the food we actually want to eat - carpaccio, schnitzel, fish and chips, a proper goat cheese salad, desserts made that morning.

In 2025 we opened a second house in New Cairo, at UVenues Mall. Same grill, same tables, bigger kitchen - and its own menu, because a city room and a marina room are not the same room.

Fifteen years in, nothing about this has become a chain. Two doors, two kitchens, one way of doing it.
